I made it to London on the 6th of June! After moving in to my flat with a few other MC students, orientation for the University of Roehampton began. After we became familiar with the campus, we were taken into Central London on our third day of being in the U.K. We originally set out to complete a photo challenge
that was optional for our orientation, but we decided to figure out our own
course and I ended up finding one of my new favorite spots. St. Paul’s Church.
First, we entered the
garden and were blown away by the beauty of a hidden spot in the middle of a
city. Then, I noticed the sanctuary of the church was open to the public to visit.
Upon entering, I learned that the church has a strong tie to the theatre
community. I am a theatre major and my friends are also either a major or
minor, so this discovery had taken us back.

There are even productions put on by the church. I would love to see their modern take on Hamlet that is currently running!
The church felt so safe and nice to us that had been wondering around a new city for several hours. I, personally, enjoyed the sign that welcomed visitors into the church.

St. Paul’s Church was
an unexpected welcome into the city of London. The blending of history,
religion, and theatre fully connected me to a specific location in the city, even
though I have just arrived. I am very grateful that that out of all of the
places to randomly find in London, we found St. Paul’s! I hope to return to St.
Paul’s, whether it be for a production, worship service, or just to visit its beautiful
grounds once more.
