So I had one day in Jyväskylä until I got on another ferry and went to Stockholm Sweden. The ferry over was so much fun! I went with 2 friends, Sarah and Jana, and we got an entire room to ourselves and it had a window. The room was soooo much nicer compared to the ferry to St. Petersburg. We ended up buying 2 bottles of wine from the shop on the boat and drank those before going to the clubs on the ferry. After a good night's sleep, we were arriving at the port and got off the boat to see the sunrise in Stockholm. Our first challenge was finding the metro station. We ended up meeting a girl from Tampere (Finland) who was on our ferry and waiting for her friend's plane to come in and the 4 of us had breakfast together. She helped us find the metro and then we made it to our hostel and dropped our luggage. We then found a free tour and got to see the bank that was robbed and coined the term Stockholm Syndrome which was very cool. After that Sarah and I went to the Stockholm Palace while Jana hung out with some friends that met us in Sweden. We met up again for a tour about death and disease in the old city which was creepy and cool. The rest of the night involved bars and pasta and a not so good night sleep in the hostel. There was a guy who was snoring very loudly and I was so nervous about missing the alarm to wake up for our ferry that Jana and I couldn't sleep. We all woke up before the alarm that was set for 4:45am and was out by 5:00am we were very early for the ferry but it was the best we could do and once on the boat Jana and I both passed out on a couch in one of the clubs. During our 11 hour ride back to Turku we chatted with 2 Finnish guys for a while and later a Kurdish man. Once in Turku we had a 3-4 hour bus ride back to Jyväskylä, arrived around 1am, and slept for most of the next day. Monday was awful for all of us because we were still so tired from traveling that paying attention in class was not an option! So Monday and Tuesday consisted of many naps. I am nearing the end of the first period here at JYU with classes ending/starting next week. It feels weird to be kinda halfway done but traveling has really made time fly.
