Greetings, fellow (and future) Scots!
Boy has it been a whirlwind these past few months. The Center for Global Engagement (CGE) has been oh-so-busy and been having so much fun!
We are gearing up for International Education Month (IEM) which starts next week.
We will be highlighting four different and unique areas/cultures for this year's celebrations:
Week 1: The Indian subcontinent
Week 2: The Spanish-speaking world
Week 3: The Muslim world
Week 4: Scotland
Each week will have its own cool and fun events including culinary treats, info sessions on specific countries (including Bahrain and El Salvador), Holi festivities, screening a Mexican-Spanish pelicula (with popcorn!), and a breaking of the fast for Ramadan. Needless to say: It is going to be an awesome month ahead!
Oh, and we will also be streaming this Spring's El Clasico (who do you think will take bragging rights? And will Lewandoski be fit to play or not?) on March 19th. Vamos!
And remember: Every year has a different line-up. Think of us like the Maryville College version of Bonnaroo (which is not too far actually) or Cannes Film Festival (which is in France). That means that YOU can help shape our schedule and contribute in any way you see fit. If you have ideas for cultural info sessions, activities, or games, please let us know!
Anyways....we could ramble on and on about the multitude of goings on going on here at MC and in particular at International House, but we will save you the time and report back here soon.
