Claire in England: Study Abroad 10/8: Day 30

Things are still going quite well for me in Worcester! I'm making more and more friends every day, I'm actually understanding my accounting class without having to study the book first, and I've even set up a weekly group dinner with three other international students!
On Friday, myself and two friends went down to London for the weekend! Although I had been just a few weeks prior, it was nice to be able to see some things I didn't before. Honestly, you could spend a month there and still not see everything! On Friday, I, the self-appointed "Tube Master", managed to navigate the underground to reach our hotel (I took us the wrong place at first, but it worked out because we had a delicious pizza for lunch outside of that station!), and after that went back to 221b Baker Street for my friends to explore.  Later that afternoon, we split up as they saw a production of Wicked, and I went to the National Gallery at Trafalgar Square and the M&M store at Leicester Square! Although I definitely wouldn't suggest going by yourself in London after dark, I was quite proud of myself for getting back to the hotel in one piece!
Saturday, however, was even better! While one of my travel companions met up with some of her friends living in the area, I went with the other to see some of the locations where one of our favourite shows, the BBC Sherlock, was filmed! Our first stop was Speedy's Cafe, a small restaurant next to the 221b Baker Street in the programme.  There, I had my first English breakfast (who knew baked beans would be good in the morning?), then we headed off to another restaurant featured in the show!  We explored around a bit more, running into a very cool Japanese festival, and by the end of the day, I was completely tired! Although my friends came back on Sunday, I left on Saturday afternoon to avoid overdoing it and pushing my luck with my health.  But all in all, I had a fantastic time!
I'm really going to try to take advantage of being in the UK this school year! I'm already looking into visiting Birmingham (for the J.R.R. Tolkien sites, the Cadbury Chocolate Factory, and BBC Museum!) along with Wales, Northern Ireland, and the Republic of Ireland!  Hopefully I'll be able to see everything I want during my time here!  That's the good thing about being in a smaller country- you can very easily and inexpensively travel to many, many places, so if you plan on studying in Europe, be sure to take advantage of it!
See you, Space Cowboy!

Here are some comparisons of my photos to the ones from Sherlock:
