Maryville College's ESL program has Survival Skills classes for the first 4 beginning English levels. An important focus of these classes is developing vocabulary necessary to help with the transition of living and taking classes in a new country.
During the 2nd Fall session of the semester, Level 3 students spent a large time developing vocabulary connected to geography, history, and politics. The final project of the session was to create a presentation that used the new vocabulary in relation to a specific region of the United States.
