If you are a hockey fan Finland is for you and I would definitely look into JYU. The local hockey team's arena is 30 minutes from the student housing and 10 minutes from campus. If you know Tennessee hockey I would say they are better than the Icebears but nowhere near the Predators. JYP plays in the top men's hockey league in Finland. A boy from the Czech Republic told me that Finnish skaters are some of the fastest in the world and watching the games I believe it. The season started 2 weeks ago and I have been to 2 games and I plan to go again on Friday. I think at this point it will be a game a week! One big difference between NHL hockey and JYP is that there are no fights and not as many power plays. The roughest that the games have gotten is the usual checks and some pushing. I do miss the fights but the games are so good you don't even think about it.
