Dara's Adventures in the UK: Opposites

I never thought much about opposites until I came to England. Over here everything is not only different than in America but almost the complete opposite. First off the most obvious, over here in England they drive on the opposite side of the road as we do at home. This means that cars turn the opposite way and I also have to look the opposite way when crossing the street. This by far took the most time to get use too, which is actually really dangerous because it is very easy to get run over by a car if you look the wrong way.
Another opposite is the toilet. The flusher handle is on the right when you are looking at the toilet here in England where in America the flusher handle is on the left. You might not think this is a big deal until you go to flush the toilet and you can’t. Then you feel really ridiculous when you realize the flusher is just on the other side. What is even more crazy than this is when you go somewhere that is really old and the toilet has a string you have to pull down on to make it flush..CRAZY!!!
The price of food is also an opposite in England than in America. Here it is very cheap to eat healthy and very expensive to eat unhealthy. In America, it is extremely cheap to eat unhealthy since the creation of the dollar menus and value menu and the $5 dollar pizza. A prime example of this opposite is when Amanda, Lauren and I when to Birmingham. Lauren and I decided to eat Burger King because we hadn’t eaten fast food since we arrived in the UK. We both got a cheeseburger, a medium fry, and a medium drink (the medium drink was actually the size of a small drink in America). This combo cost us just under 7 GPD which would be about $11. However, Amanda decide to go to a little store across the way and got a sandwich, some sort of pasty thing, and a bottle of water all for about 3.5 GDP. This probably explains why the majority of all British and European people are so tall and skinny.
Well those are really the only ones can think of right now but there are many many many more. I’ll add more later. It is almost bed time!
