Finals Finale

My beautiful family!
Tuesday I had my last day of classes...HALLELUJAH!  This has been MY LONGEST SEMESTER SINCE BEING IN COLLEGE!

At AUI, we start classes when MC is still has two weeks left for J-Term and end just a couple days before MC...SO LONG!  I officially appreciate J-Term exponentially more than I did beforehand.

Now that classes are done, we all know what that means...FINALS AND FINAL PROJECTS.  Luckily, I only had one final project as opposed to like 5 as per usual, but it was a BIG FINAL PROJECT!  4,000 words about Boko Haram...that's enough to make anyone upset and question the overall goodness of humanity.  Not fun!

Luckily, that paper is now DONE, and I don't have to think about it anymore!  WOO!

Miss this beauty!
However...now I have to start thinking about the dreaded FINALS.  I don't wanna do it.  We do get one reading day though...something MC needs to think about doing... *hint hint*  Haha!

I have four finals, which isn't so bad, but THEY ARE SO SPREAD OUT!  I have one on Thursday(today), two on Saturday, and one on Tuesday.  I HAVE A FINAL ON SATURDAY...NOT JUST ONE THOUGH...TWO!  AND I HAVE TWO FINALS AT 8AM!  WHAT THE HECK?

So excited to see this goober!
I like the way MC does it...four days of finals...NOT ON THE WEEKENDS...AND NOT BEFORE 9AM!

Anyway...four finals...and I'm only worried about two!  Well...kinda.  I'm worried about all four, but I'M REALLY WORRIED about two.  I call that a success right?  Right!

Lineup of my finals:

  1. History of the Arab World: Aka let's cram over 1,000 years of history into half a semester and then ask about a random period of history in either the Maghreb, the Arabian Peninsula, or the rest of the Middle East...haha WHAT?!
  2. Conflict in Contemporary Africa: Otherwise known as the most depressing class I've ever taken that really makes me question the ability of humans to be NICE.  Also, the final is over a book that we haven't looked as since BEFORE MIDTERMS.  It's been half a semester since we've covered that material...haha...You're kidding right?!
  3. Comparative Political Systems: My favorite class of the semester!  My professor is always on top of her game and style, and it's a super interesting class!  Let's just hope I can get through her final.
  4. Islamic Art and Architecture: An interesting class...but...not really at the same time.  There are only so many different mosques to look at the plans of before they all start looking the same...since mosque #2 really.
This is like a shot...that's not enough!
Seeing that it is finals week and that I'm stressed as per usual, I'm missing a few things from home that often get me through exams and end-of-semester projects:
  • GIANT COFFEE CUPS AND TRAVEL MUGS...all we get are baby tiny coffee cups with not enough caffeine to get me through 2 hours.  I NEED MORE THAN THAT IN MY LIFE.
  • STARBUCKS...because who doesn't like a "White Girl" drink when you're stressed?  Sure...they aren't the greatest for you...but they're good for the soul!
  • QUIET FLOORS OF THE LIBRARY...the library is so loud on campus because everyone is inside it.  Even the quiet room is loud because not all Moroccans understand the meaning of being quiet for studying...
  • WALKS AROUND CAMPUS AT NIGHT...People just don't do that here, and it's kinda sketchy to walk around at night by yourself...the night guards just watch your every move.  It's just a nice stress relieving technique that I miss.
Look at all the beautiful people I'm coming home to!
I'll be home...in Maryville...in JUST ONE WEEK!  EEK!  I can't wait to get these finals over with and see my family and friends!  I'm coming home!
