Is it really an Erasmus gathering without a group selfie? |
Um, how is it even May? Time is going so quickly! I have 92 days left in Europe, and only 32 days until Maddie is here in Spain! I cannot begin to comprehend how fast this time has gone, but it has truly been the time of my life. I am resolving to not look at time as a bad thing though, because in my short time here, if I have learned one thing, it is that in a month, a week, or even a day, so many good things can happen. So, if I have a month and a half left of living in Pamplona, that's a month and a half of endless possibilities and opportunities that I refuse to let pass without "aprovechando".

Jose is leaving us and that makes me sad, but its not goodbye, only see you later! |
I think that taking advantage of time comes in many different ways. Whether it be passing afternoons in the park, watching movies with Zoe and Scott all day, sitting in the streets during Juevinxos talking and observing the people around us, dancing the night away, sending friends off with unforgettable farewell parties, having educated and friendly conversations about politics and political differences between our countries, singing (terribly I might add) Disney karaoke in Alexia's piso, dinners with friends, or nights on balconies talking, laughing and loving the people all around me, I have found that there is not a moment that is worth wasting and that with the right attitude, there is no such thing as a wasted moment.

I have realized in the past week especially all of the things that I am going to miss about Spain and Pamplona specifically; the people of course, but also the the Plazas and community spaces, the life that exists in the day and in the night, and in the moment style of experiencing life, because I think that is what I have been doing, not just living, but EXPERIENCING.

Hiking crew (Let's ignore how red my face is okay?) |
Okay, okay, I'm as done with being cheesy or "cursi" as I can be for this post (obviously not too much haha but I'll embrace it, after all, would I really be Brittany if I weren't a bit sentimental? Clearly not.)

"Life's a climb, but the view is great" |
I am dedicating today's post to my adventure today hiking a mountain close to Pamplona. Last night my friend Isabel asked if I wanted to join her on an outdoor adventure today, and of course I did! I have been so jealous of all of the pretty posts of all my TN friends enjoying the Smoky Mountains and I have been craving my own little slice of mountain heaven; I certainly found it!

Okay, like can it be any prettier? |
We treked 15km (about 9 miles) and climbed up to 3 different peaks. It always makes me laugh when people underestimate the ability of my trustee Chacos but really I can't go on an adventure without them! I know my fellow Chaco wearers will appreciate the following quote as much as I did! "Only an American would come hiking in sandals" haha.
We had amazing views of Pamplona and the surrounding area and let me tell you, it was incredible. We saw green for miles and miles and were able to make out the different pueblos and their churches with bell towers. I think the best part for me was the conversation, Beñat knew so much about all of the sights and we learned so much, but there is also something about being away from general life that allows you to connect with people while you take in the beautiful things all around. We laughed and just enjoyed each other and the path. Time goes so quickly when you are with good company.
I had forgotten how absolutely beautiful the smell of the mountains is. I really am a nature girl at heart and this break was exactly what I needed to escape city life for a couple of hours.
I am so thankful for impulsive adventures and to have friends to go on them with!
School is actually picking up so I should probably get to doing some work. Until next time!
