γεια σας!
Hello again!
Ashley here. We visited the Ancient Agora today. I really enjoyed seeing where all of the markets and ‘news stations’ were located. I also find it amazing that we are able to determine exactly what happened in each part of the Agora. For example, today the marketplace is just a rectangular patch of grassy land; however, we were told that merchants would lay blankets out and then place their products on them. They arranged their blankets in an orderly fashion like stalls at the flea market. What I found most interesting about the Agora though was they way that the ancient Greeks would use these posts in the ground with wood beams in between them to relay the news for the day. Every day a new piece of wood with new news stories are placed in these posts to relay the information to the Athenians. This level of dedication and commitment was astonishing to me. I will be visiting Crete soon, the largest island in Greece.
‘Tis all for now.
Αντίο!
Bye!
