For the Netherlands, tulips are important for trade and
export, but growing tulips are harder than one might think. In order to
get the biggest and best bulbs for export, the tulips are replanted every year
until matured. In order to save space and maximum bulb production, they
plan them using the lasagne style. They plant the youngest bulbs that
will take the longest to bloom on the bottom then the next size and then the
biggest bulbs on top so that they will grow at different times in the same
place! Lasagne!!"
