Hallo

I have officially been in Germany a week, well 5 days!  Already sooooooo much has happened and let me tell you, us americans, we are SLOW compared to Germans.  As soon as i got off the plane i could tell how fast paced people were going to be here.  They walk so dang fast and they always have somewhere to be.  My feet hurt for sure, trying to keep up with them!

Sunrise on the plane over Dortmund
Anyway, when my first time on a train: i looked out the window the entire time.... i totally looked like an American cause everyone else just looked ahead or on their phones... blegh.  I loved the scenery!  There were these little tine villages with itsy bitsy houses! and then BAM city, big city.  I was in Dortmund!  My Dortmund Double's name is Haider and he met me (after two failed attempts) at the station.  Its funny because this is his first semester here, and we kind of both get lost!

I have been around a little bit, in and out of the main city.  Its soooooo hard not knowing the language here but i try not to let it frustrate me.  There are McDonalds everywhere!!!!! and Burger King!!!!

I have tried banana beer... which is apparently a big drink here. and it was delicious!

Coffee!  All day everyday for the Germans! They are constantly wired!  I think this is how they stay so skinny... they walk fast everywhere, they drink a ton of coffee, and they never have time to eat because they are so busy!

I have successfully made it to and from my school everyday this week!  Leibniz Gymnasium, the bilingual school i am interning at.  I love it already!! Its so different from the states! Most days i am done around 1:15 pm!  And the teachers have a room where all of them are, they dont have individual classrooms.  Also, teachers and doctors and two of the highest paying jobs in Germany..... what's up America?

So far, so good!  Im loving my new home!

Tschüss :)
