Life in the ARG

Summer in South America is no joke. The house im living in doesn't have A/C either so I am currently writing this sitting in front of my fan.
School updates:
  • College seems a little backward here: they basically have us going to classes for 2 weeks without registering. this is the time we can go to any class we want and then by the 17th we have to finalize our schedules. We had 3 days of orientation, but didnt get student emails or IDs. WEIRD
  • i had class today, yes on saturday, at 8:30 in the morning. I wasnt having it all. but i felt like i had accomplish more then most by 11 ARG time with the 2 hour difference. All of my classes are in spanish, but theres something about "la historia de la cultura de Argentina" that rattles my brain. the only good thing about the class is its only 2x a month, which is convenient.
  • The teacher went on an on and on for like 3 hours... it was like jterm all over again and i cant even focus that long in english, let alone spanish
  • speaking isnt the problem, but understanding the academic vocabulary is overwhelming
  • I was literally one of the only people awake this morning going to class. the city was still recovering from last night
  • i also have class Wed- Saturday, and dont have any school supplies, only 1 notebook that has a picture of San Pablo Brazil on the cover ( it was only 2$)
Life Adjustments:
  • IM CONSTANTLY HUNGRY
  • Breakfast- is essentially non existent outside a croissant and coffee
  • Lunch is at like 2 and dinner at 9:30-10.
  • Last night we had dinner at 10:30 and it lasted until 1:30.....
  • People dont go out until at least 1 here... thats my BED TIME!!!!
  • we opted not to go out to the "boliche" (club) last night but went to local bar and there was casually old men out at 3am.. do people ever sleep here?
  • SIESTA= LIFE CHANGING. here in cordoba basically everything shuts down from 2-5pm and everyone naps.. its perfect.
  • I feel like a nerd- i always have 2 phones with me at once, my iPhone and my Arg phone.
  • Im not sure why it seems so hot here, like hotter than florida.. i cant even sometimes. one of the women who lives in our house as well gave her fan to borrow because my room has no windows and is the definition of STUFFY
  • I hate sweating.... but its impossible not to sweat here because you walk everywhere.
  • In ARG... pedestrians DONOT have the right away and cars/taxis will run you over if you are not paying attention
  • English is a rare commodity here, almost no one speaks it. My 2 roommates and i speak english to each other but other than that its ESPAÑOL todo el tiempo. English will get you no where here. Our host mother, speaks no english and knows maybe 10 words: her favorite is boyfriend.
  • i never really know how much anything is, because when something is say $100 ARG Pesos i freak out inside thinking its like $100USD when in reality its like $12 USD.
  • there are photo copy places everywhere.. i guess no one owns a printer, i cant really understand the point of them.
  • Coffee is served in smallest cups possible here. Today for the first day we had "un cafe doble" aka a normal size cup.
Every day in Cordoba has something new to offer; a new street to be explored, another 10 miles to be walked, and forever wishing for cooler weather.

for the most part, Cordoba is really flat. we wandered to the park and found this view and were taken back! it was an awesome view!
