Dos Semana

As week 2 of my trip quickly goes by I find myself adapting into life in Spain more and more. Each day brings new challenges but certain things do get easier. It is awesome to actually think of some places as home now. I spent this weekend in Valencia enjoying the beach, fresh paella, and exploring the breataking city.

In Madrid I’m starting to develop a routine which is pretty awesome. My Spanish is surely improving although I have a ton more to know which always seems daunting because I feel like I have already learned so much. However, I really like my teachers and the way they interact with the students. The schools learning style is very comparable to that of Maryville’s.

The coolest part of all of this in my opinion is being able to truly explore a culture from a non-tourist perspective. Being able to see everyday people and how they live is actually remarkable and something I usually don’t feel I get out of a normal trip. I would compare it to seeing an ice burg and thinking a culture is only the tip of the iceberg when first seeing it then discovering more underneath after looking further. This week was also midterms and they went relatively well. The spanish grading system is different but I’ll be able to tell my parents I’m still doing school here...

But actually I do spend quite a bit of time in school here. I have made the most of my time outside of the classroom by always exploring. However, that may not be an option much longer as the high in two days is 105. Still, without Florida humidity it’ll feel like a cool summer breeze...Right?
