Bonjour!
Let me start this by just saying that France has so many holidays. I've only been working for three weeks now and have had two days off. This past Monday was one of those days. However, that didn't stop me from exploring this wonderful city! My friends were still in Paris and coincidentally we had the same plans to go to the Louvre that day so we met up and walked through the museum together. We spent hours looking at the different exhibits and taking pictures of the things we liked. Though even with the many hours we spent looking at everything, there was still much more to discover. I now believe anyone who told me that you can't explore the Louvre in one day. The Greek and Roman Antiquities sections were definitely two of my favorite parts of the museum. Here are just a few pictures that I took in that area.
Another of my favorite areas in the Louvre were the paintings, though it was extremely crowded in that section of the museum. I did not see the Mona Lisa, but here are a few paintings that I found to be really cool. (I cannot remember the names of them now though.)
After we had seen everything that they had planned to see in the Louvre, I was invited to go with them to coffee. What I didn't know at the time was that this place was Les Deux Magots -- a literary staple in the Parisian world. This place is where many famous authors and intellectuals came to hang out during their time in this city and it was pretty cool to be in a space that was beloved by many people that I have read about.

The ceiling was also gorgeous in this area.

You could say my day off was a great day, but my days in work were equally as good. Since the gala is over, this week was definitely a little less stressful. I'm focusing on more tasks related to my area of work and am really getting to know the library. It's definitely been a fun few weeks here navigating a different city and the experiences that come along with it. I'm definitely looking forward to more of those as my time here continues.
