I have had the opportunity to travel and study abroad with two of my closest friends. While this has lessened a lot of anxieties, it has been very interesting to see how each of us have reacted to being abroad.
My friend Bailee has recently hit a dip in her time in London. When she got here, he was ready to try new things and have a blast. Recently, it has been rough for her to be able to have fun since she is missing home and, to quote her "a little bit miserable." However, she is on the upward climb and having more fun the more we get out and explore.
Allison, out other friend, has had the opposite feelings. Upon getting to our university's campus, she said she immediately wanted to go back to the states. Now that we are almost two weeks into our three here in London, she probably having the most fun out of all of us.
Now, personally, I have been having a lot of fun exploring and learning here in London. I have not gotten homesick (yet) and I think that it is because I am used to being away from home since I am an out of state student at Maryville, so I am used to being away from my family for a while at a time. As for adjusting to a different country, I don't think it was a big deal for me because I always felt like I would see London at some point in my life. I truly enjoy being here and love getting to spend time
with my great friends.
On the studious side of studying abroad, the class I am taking is going very well! "The Psychology of Murder" is a very interesting class. While it can get very dark at times, it is pulling at different parts of my brain that I don't always get to use in my major classes at MC. It is different to be in such an intense lecture class for 4 hours a day. Especially since the professors lecture for that long, while at MC we are used to professors including us more in discussion during our "lectures." While we do get the opportunity to have discussions and ask questions, it is definitely different and took me two or three classes to get used to.
While continuing to work on assignments for class, I hope to continue venturing out into Central London and hope to see a show on the West End this week!
