Week 2: Work+Excursion to Cordoba and Granada

To say the least, this has been a very busy week. First off, in regards to work, I have finally gotten a good idea of what I am going to be contributing to this company. This will largely consist of working on archiving past tours, translating company documents, and, to a limited extent, leading some tours once I have completed training. This list of tasks has brought up a set of mixed emotions for myself. On one hand, I am pleased with the fact that I am able to complete work along Archival lines and that I am able to largely work a lot on my own, as I find I get more done and am able to work longer hours under these circumstances. On the other hand, however, the work schedule and environment has been slightly disconcerning, as the work schedule as a whole is quite fluid, no one at the company seems to be keeping track of my hours, and my work does not seem to be moving myself out of my comfort zone to a great extent. Although I’m fine working long hours and I don’t particularly like feeling uncomfortable, I feel that that lack of true organization will make it difficult for myself to plan out excursions within and outside of  Spain on my own and I will not be able to get a truly enlightening experience unless I feel some level of discomfort.
Now on to the next main aspect of this past week: the excursion to Granada and Cordoba. Overall there were a number of experiences we were able to experience in these places, with some of the most remarkable ones being the Cordoba Mosque, the Alcazar, and general trips around the two cities themselves. Overall the guided sections of these tours were quite informative and prpvided a good context to the cities.
