Our last weeks in London have been filled with so many amazing theatre experiences! Our first West End production was "Waitress", a show my friends and I have been wanting to see for a while. The theatre the show is currently playing in is rather old, but was truly one of the most beautiful theaters I have ever been in. The cast had just changed, so I was excited to see how the new performers were going to do on stage. The show includes many props that are edible, so my technical theatre brain was trying to wrap my head around all of the work that goes in to running this show every week.
Later that week, we took a trip to the Globe Theatre! As MC students who spend a great deal of our time in the theatre, we could not pass up the opportunity to see such a historic site (even though it isn't the original Globe). Before our tour started, we got to watch a quick demonstration on sword fighting. There was also a costume demonstration in which I got to help with! Since the costumes were made in the Elizabethan style, the were trying to show that younger boys would play the roles, so they were size specific. The two costumers asked if I would mind to help and I popped up on stage and let them dress me!

Another event we took part in was West End Live! West End Live is a free event held in Trafalgar Square in which West End shows perform songs throughout the weekend.
We went on Saturday, the second "real" day of summer and boy, oh boy, the weather was not typical London weather. We all got sunburns!
The event was very fun! We got to see performances from amazing actors and actresses and learn about shows we had not head before!
Our last theatre escapade was a trip to see "Wicked" via our social program at Roehampton. I saw "Wicked" on tour in 2013, so it had been a while for me. I have listened to the score since, but I had forgotten many of the scenes and plots. The cast was also one of the best that I have heard!
While my time in London is coming to a close, I am very grateful to have seen as much theatre as a did, considering that is not what I am studying while abroad. I hope to come back to London and see more West End exclusive shows!
